Wernle Children’s Home is a residential treatment facility providing a full range of services and support for behaviorally and emotionally challenged adolescent males, ages six through 21, and their families. Established by Lutheran Churches throughout Indiana and Ohio, the agency was dedicated in 1879 as Wernle Orphan’s Home. While holding fast to its foundation as an expression of God’s unchanging love and grace, the agency continues to develop innovative services to meet the ever changing needs of troubled children and their families in today’s society.
Wernle Children’s Home, Inc., a social ministry organization of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, is a not for profit organization solely responsible for its debts in the scope of 501(c)(3) and depends upon support from churches, organizations and individuals. The agency employs approximately 130 people, ranging from paraprofessionals to doctorate level professionals, on our beautiful 70-acre campus situated on the south edge of Richmond Indiana. Our supporters and staff are integral components to providing quality services and support for our residents and their families.
