Wellness Center
Welcome to Wernle Children's Home Wellness Center
Wellness Center:
The most recent addition to Wernle’s campus, opened in 2002, the Wellness Center is home to our cafeteria, chapel, gymnasium, computer lab, art therapy room, music therapy room, and medical services.

Cafeteria:
Most residents receive all their daily meals in the cafeteria. The dedicated staff
serves nutritious meals to them three times a
day, and the boys must always practice their manners by waiting in line and
eating their food properly.

Chapel:
Pastor Daniel Nugent holds
service for the boys every Sunday. The children also use the chapel for
watching movies and reading.
Wernle’s Board of Directors holds regular meetings there, and summer school is
also located in the chapel.

Gymnasium:
The Wellness Center is home to our full-sized
gym, complete with basketball goals, bleachers, basketballs, and kick balls.
Our residents use the gym daily for part of their recreational activities.

Computer Lab:
Located off the gym, boys are able to have access to computers for recreational
use or homework under the watchful eyes of staff.
.

Art Therapy
Room:
Boys use the art room all of the time for drawing, painting, building
models, and working with clay. Wernle's art room has a potters wheel to
create many handsome pieces for the boys to proudly display.

Below is an example of their work! The art room even has a kiln for firing the clay sculptures the boys create.

Music Therapy Room:
Whether the boys want to learn how to play the keyboard or guitar, or even if
they just want to practice being a DJ, our music therapy room is a great
compliment to our other treatment programs—offering something for everyone
regardless of skill level.

Medical Services:
Medical Services has an examination room, private office
and locked Rx storage room.
The Director of Health Services is a Licensed Registered Nurse and is on campus
five days a week. She is also available on-call 24 hours a day / seven
days a week.
Wernle
has a consulting General Practitioner MD who comes to campus one morning per
week, and is available 24-hours per day for emergency consultation.
Wernle also has a Board Certified Child Psychiatrist (MD) that is our Medical
Director who is on campus for a full day every other week. The Medical
Director/Psychiatrist is available for consultation any time such service is
necessary. Each child is re-evaluated by the Psychiatrist every thirty days. At
this time, the child’s medication doses are also re-evaluated. Medication for
the boys are distributed here as well as on the units Also any medical treatments are able to
give on campus.
