Effective July 2, 2021 Wernle CEO, Darrell Gordon has been appointed as Chair of the Lutheran Services in America Board of Directors for a 1-year term.

Lutheran Services in America leads one of the largest health and human services networks in the U.S. with over $22 billion in annual revenue, made up of over 300 Lutheran social ministry organizations that touch the lives of 1 in 50 Americans each year. Guided by God’s call to love and to serve its neighbors, they empower our faith-based member organizations in their mission to lift up the nation’s most vulnerable people by serving seniors, children, youth and families, people with disabilities, veterans, immigrants and refugees and the homeless. LSA members work in 1,400 communities throughout the country.

From their headquarters on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., Lutheran Services in America is focused on:

  • Bringing people, resources, and expertise together to help its members innovate, transform and thrive, and leveraging their national network to provide funding, service and partnership opportunities for their member organizations.
  • Acting as a recognized and visible network and voice for Lutheran Social Ministry to create opportunities and advocating on behalf of its network.
  • Fostering, strengthening and expanding faith-based connections to remain a strong trusted community of faith.
